National Institute of Technology, Durgapur



Previously the institute was known in the name Regional Engineering college of Durgapur, established under the section 1960. Latter it was undertaken by Ministry of Higher education (HRD) under the category autonomous institute. The institute is packed with better infrastructure and effective academic activities that make the institute became popular among learning aspirants. It offers seats to the students based on the entrance exam performance basis. 10% of the total seats in this institute is reserved for the foreign students who are nominated by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Government of India.  NIR-D started its biotechnology courses from 2005, it carters better faculty, excellent training and advanced lab-referral features makes this institute comparatively better as compare to the other institutes. The institute is capable of handling 60 students per year. The institute also put effort to improvise to nourish student’s talent through various physical games and art competition. Apart B-tech, biotechnology department also starts Mtech programme in the year 2009. Admission to this institute is purely based on merit basis. For B-tech institute conducting exam decides the admission qualification and for M-Tech student’s eligibility is determined through GATE exam.
