How does an engineering student apply for a Ratan TATA scholarship?

Firstly. you can apply online on http://www.srtt.org/(see email address in contact us) and search the kind of grant you want to apply for. I had personally applied for a travel grant for a conference in Cologne,Germany.

The following are the documents they expect as part of your application:

1) A written application from the student / professional
2) Statement of purpose
3) Updated resume
4) In case of students, confirmed admission letter from the university abroad stating details of admission (no email accepted)
5) In case of professionals, letter of invitation from organizers (no emails accepted), along with letter of leave of absence from employers
6) Also, mention the mode of presentation - oral / poster (Applicable for individuals travelling for conferences)
7)Recent pay slip/s of all earning members in the family
8) Two letters of recommendations

After the submission, the application is forwarded to the trust committee and it typically takes about a month for them to confirm the acceptance or rejection of the scholarship. Also the scholarship amount is based on the financial needs for the task and your financial background.

Once accepted you are then sent a check in your name with the scholarship amount. You are expected to submit a report on the conference/task that you had used the amount for.

You would typically be in contact with one of the members of the trust and I was lucky to have very supportive and helpful point of contact.

I wish everyone good luck with their application!
